Mozilla is introducing new artificial intelligence features to Firefox that allow users to complete online forms using information from other browser tabs and monitor websites for changes. Announced on 27 October, the additions form part of the company's Smart Window initiative, an optional AI browsing experience designed to simplify routine online activities.

The form-filling feature allows users to select information sources, such as professional profiles or online portfolios, which Firefox can use to suggest responses to application forms. The system becomes available when a form contains at least four supported text fields, with users retaining the ability to review and edit suggestions before submission. Mozilla uses Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite model to process information from selected pages, although existing saved autofill information remains stored locally.

A second feature introduces automated webpage monitoring. Users can instruct Smart Window to check websites for changes, including new job advertisements, product availability or price reductions. Monitoring can run daily or weekly across as many as five pages per task, with notifications appearing when relevant changes are detected. The checks operate only while Firefox remains open.

Both capabilities are initially available through the English-language Smart Window desktop beta in the United States and Canada, with expansion planned for other markets. The development reflects growing competition among browser providers to integrate AI directly into everyday internet activities. For Mozilla, the challenge will be delivering useful automation while maintaining the transparency and user control central to Firefox's identity.
