Leader of the Year (Sustainable Design) – New York 2024
Noemi Florea is the founder and lead designer of LÆRO, an independent design studio developing product-service systems that respond to challenges highlighted by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Since 2020, she has led LÆRO’s leading venture, Cycleau, which offers a compact water reuse system that can be retrofitted into buildings to recycle greywater to drinking water. Since launching Cycleau, she has raised over $250,000 in grant funding while coordinating multiple commercial pilot deployments spanning three countries. She has also led partnerships with the Swarovski Foundation, the Trust for Governors Island, Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC, and the U.S. Department of Energy. Noemi has been recognized as an MIT Solv[ED] Youth Innovator, a UNICEF Under 30 Innovator, and a 776 Fellow, among other awards. She has presented Cycleau globally in countries including the U.S., Australia, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and Tajikistan.
